FCM Launches Phase 3 of Successful CEDI Program

Today, we are launching the call for applications for Phase 3 of our Community Economic Development Initiative (CEDI)!

Implemented in partnership with the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers (Cando), CEDI is a unique program that helps neighbouring First Nations and municipalities develop capacity to jointly implement long-term plans for community economic development initiatives and land use.

Since its inception in 2013, CEDI has fostered several respectful and sustainable government-to-government partnerships. We do this by providing technical support through third-party facilitation and capacity development activities, including monthly working group meetings, bi-annual workshops and administrative assistance.

For Phase 3, we will welcome eight new First Nation – municipal partnerships from across Canada. To ensure a wide representation, we are piloting a new regional approach starting in British Columbia and Quebec, where two partnerships will be selected in each of these provinces. Note that we are now offering two streams: a three-year standard participation and a two-year accelerated option. Both will start in December 2021.

Application deadline: October 22, 2021.

CEDI is funded by the federal government through Indigenous Services Canada.
